Email: t. Professor MacDonald has a long-term interest in the intestinal immune system in health and disease, with particular interest in chronic inflammatory bowel disease, food hypersensitivity, the relationship between the normal flora and gut immunity, and protective immunity to bacterial pathogens. In he was appointed as an assistant professor at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in In he left Philadelphia and worked at Merck and Co for a year, before returning to Bart's Medical College in In he was appointed a Wellcome Trust Senior Lecturer at Bart's till , was promoted to reader in , and given a personal chair at the University of London in He has over publications, mostly on how inappropriate immune reactions cause disease in the human gut. His H-factor is 79 with almost 22, citations. He was a former associate editor of Gut and Gastroenterology and currently is an associate editor of Mucosal Immunology and the IBD journal. Space precludes listing the number of invitations to speak at international meetings he has had in the last 25 years. He also led the division into the RAE where they scored a 5 in clinical medicine.

The story of how David Bowie came to work with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails
His research at Imperial will continue to investigate the fundamental roles that nanomaterials play in perovskite solar cells, particularly in understanding their stability limitations under stress and probing their charge transfer dynamics. His current project investigates a variety of perovskite absorber layers with an emphasis on understanding their surface chemistry as well as the interfacial interaction between neighbouring semiconductors and the counter electrode. In particular, Tom is investigating novel experimental techniques that will facilitate the measurement of charge carrier dynamics at both the surface of the materials, as well as at the interface, providing new design rules to guide the development of stable and efficient photovoltaics. He has recognised expertise in the synthesis and characterisation of nanocrystals chalcogenides, phosphides and perovskites , nanoparticles metals and their compounds , and nanofibers metal oxides and carbon materials. Thus far, his research has worked towards the manipulation of nanomaterials to benefit the stability and performance of dye-sensitised and perovskite solar cells. Thomas Nann. Tom then went on to complete a short postdoctoral position on nanoparticle synthesis with Prof. In , Tom was awarded a Ramsay Memorial Fellowship at UCL where he developed innovative synthetic routes for the preparation of perovskite nanocrystals and new fundamental understandings for the role of carbon nanotubes in perovskite solar cells.
Tom has been heard on numerous stations in the region during the decade he worked for Metro Traffic, doing news, traffic and weather.
