You are here
I'm glad you both have found a way to get past the incredible forces that are working against you. Hopefully they have some say in it, but I'm speaking about other churchgoers' expectations here, and probably your wife's. We have 2 school age children. He is truly my soulmate and I shudder to think that if I had not chosen to marry outside of the church, I would not have had this life with him. If I were to signal him everytime I thought about him, I'd be on the phone with him almost all of my waking hours.
Keep yourself busy and do what you would normally be doing besides sitting around waiting for a guy to call. I know how long his residency lasts. Mormons are very particular about dressing. But from what you said, this girl doesn't sound like she is going to be content to have a marriage for time only. Make up stories about being a soldier at war or a sailor at sea keeping me away from my love. But, you will probably lose. While it's true that Mormons are not one-dimensional and completely predictable, the odds of a successful relationship, given the OP's description of his girlfriend, are slim. While that is the case sometimes, it Is much more of an exception than a rule. It gives people a sense of purpose, while pressuring them to be 'good' by their book. This broke my heart.
